No Refills Remaining

Another gin to hide the pain
one more pill to mask the shame.
Another drag to calm her nerves
one more john that she will serve.

Far too long she's walked the streets
stiletto heels to dingy sheets.
Pleasuring men for less than love
cursing life for its damning shove.

As loneliness craves another high
she soothes awake her will to die;
handful of pills - swig of booze
taking comfort in her abuse.

In teary smears of make-up, lies
a message spilt from empty eyes;
deliver from sin - free from pain
expired now - no refills remain.
