The Keeper
The similarities of an old chair and an old person, dusted with time.

The Keeper

Safely tucked away,
the chair hangs
dusted with time.
Ghosts of cat paws rest
upon its worn lap.
Its frail back shudders
as a summer breeze
meanders through an open door
and tickles splintered legs.
Once a polished beauty
now a barn wall keeper
generations old,
sadly forgotten
by all but the spider
weaving her trap amidst
the dried up memories.
