The Burden of Eating Cake
Around my neck I wear the rewoven, frayed ends of unraveled alibis which I have mended to suit my conscience. How unfortunate that as I eat my cake, each dirty crumb dropped on my falsely woven napkin tightens the grip around my throat until I choke with regret.
