‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…’ and then man destroyed it.
At the beginning of time, the world was beautiful. There were no power lines extending from coast to coast; there were no skyscrapers every direction you looked; there was, instead, nature.
That beautiful word – nature – has long since disappeared from many places on the earth lately and has been for the past hundred years. The rate of extinction in the past fifty years has risen greatly and is expected to do so more in the near future. Man, the dominant figure in this world, is destroying it.
If you have ever watched Bambi, you would know that the villain of that story is none other than man itself. God told us to subdue the earth and the creatures within… not destroy them!
But there is still hope! Environmentalists and people interested in conserving nature have struggled to raise funding for natural habitats and for more national parks all over the world. In Florida, only a small fraction of natural swampland is left; the rest has become consumed by city life. There is still time, though for natural habitats such as the tropical rainforests in South America, and the tundra-land in northern Scandinavia. Please, pray for the leaders of our world to rediscover what Mother Nature and God have done for our still lovely planet.
