The Tallest Man
A poem about my late step-father who was 5' 9" who will always be taller then me. |
| The Tallest Man You took a troubled young man into your life, You showed him kindness, love and respect. You never gave up on him when problems arose, You were there to guide him and help him reflect. You taught this young man how to laugh at himself, And to please the man he saw in the mirror. You were always there to encourage and support. You helped him see his own qualities clearer. This troubled young man finally grew up. He now has a family of his own. He must now teach and guide his own children. Using you as the model and love you've shown. You trained this young man how to live a good life. Showed him how happiness in yourself can be reached. Now the training is over, the lessons are done. It is time to practice what you have preached. As you know by now, this young man was me I am so grateful for all that you have done. I'm so happy that you entered my life. You've always treated me like your own son. Without your involvement I’m not sure where I’d be, Or what kind of life that I would have had. You literally helped to turn my life around. You showed me that nothing in life is that bad. You have said to stand tall and hold my head high. You have been the greatest friend that I ever knew. I will always love you and try to make you proud. But you’re right, I will never be taller than you. |
