Blue Butterflies

From stemmed glass to stripped conscience,
calm flows from her fear
as the sheet falls from her shoulders.
Her eyes dart like erratic butterflies
eluding his stare upon her nakedness.

Passionately, his unbridled bristles
spread bruised colors across her canvas,
capturing the wilting essence of her contempt.

Each stroke undefines her being
as he paints her into muteness.
Secrets concealed beneath
unblinking blue butterflies.
