"The Redbird"

The redbird... singing in the midst of the moon
Somewhere near here, in the middle of June

The redbird... flying among the stars at night
Guided mostly by the falling moonlight

The redbird... modestly keeping pace
The redbird... disappearing without a trace
The redbird... moving from tree to tree
The redbird... secretly following me

I run on the streets as the redbird still chases
I run past the houses and notice the faces
The faces all looking back at me
With a redbird quietly trailing me

The Sun kisses the sky with the light slowly rising
The redbird... fading fast upon the horizon
I enter the framework of my front door
Behold the redbird, upon my hardwood floor
