PARTING
A severed relationship
by SHERRI G ♥ WDC ♥

Parting brought such sorrow, yet felt it must be done
Lived a life of horror, played a game that no one won
Tried to forget the lies told, and to make myself forget
Now living in a nightmare and consumed with much regret

Parting hurt like hell, yet I could not live that way
You deceived me too often, role of god-like did you portray
For years I looked at you like a knight in shining armor,
Until your lies were exposed and I could take it no longer

Parting didn’t come easily, I always spoke the truth,
But you twisted everything, said the truth was misconstrued
I leave you now in body, though I did so long ago in heart
Thankful for the freedom felt now that we’re apart
