Noisy Words.....

Words all chatter in my head
Some will whisper, some will shout
Wake me up when I’m in bed
“We are poems; we must come out!”

These words are not like other words
They have rhythm; they have rhyme
Chirping out like well-trained birds
Nodding heads and keeping time.

They will stand themselves in rows
Marching rhythms, forming lines
Arms are swinging, tapping toes
Words meet words, a phrase combines.

So I stumble from my sleep
Find some paper, find a pen
Write them quick, the words won’t keep
Now my head’s at peace again.

Stagger back and fall in bed
Blessed silence in my brain
No more chatter in my head
(Noisy words... Am I insane?)
