The Forgotten Cat
“... and tonight’s temperatures will again be below freezing. Snow is in the forecast, starting tonight with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches...” I was put out this morning I was left out all day I want to come in now Find a warm place to lay I’m cold and I’m hungry My paw pads are numb Where are my people? I wish they would come! I mew at the windows I yowl at the door Why can’t they hear me? I wish I could roar! A cold breeze is blowing There’s snow in the air My ear tips are frozen Do they really care? I sit in the darkness I shiver and shake How much of this coldness Can my body take? I was found the next morning Curled up on the mat A victim of cruelty Just another dead cat.
