I can not go to Mars today.
Did you linger on writing.com too long today? I did yesterday.

Slurp, smack...pause,
The computer ate my time.
- Click, Click -

One, two, three, four,
It ate the hours,
All four.
‘dammit-all’ someone is at the door.

Ring-Ring,
I don't want the call.
- Sigh -

I cannot go to Mars today.
I will not cry or laugh today.
I have to work today.

The stories will have to wait,
though, I wish to laugh and cry with them.
I will not get to travel to far off lands.
I have to work today.

Yesterday, I checked my mail.
Clicked one link,
then another…

Click-click-click,
four hours clicked away.

I was there, at work.
I answered the phone;
I helped those who came to my door.

I'm not paid by the hour.
So, there is no guilt
for the time wasted
spent here yesterday.

I cannot go to Mars today.
I am going to Mars, anyway.
