Momma Left Me All Alone Momma had to go next door To help out Miss Barone. She said I was old enough To stay at home alone. I felt so very grown up To be alone like that. I saw Daddy's great big chair And that is where I sat. That was when I heard the noise. It sounded like a growl. No, I think that maybe It was an awful howl. A monster must be after me! Chills ran down my back. Was that monster hungry for A human kind of snack? Once again I heard the noise, The beast was getting near. I wondered what it looked like. I was shaking from the fear. I saw the monster's face. He looked me in the eye. He gave that awful howl. It almost made me cry. Well, not an awful howl. But a howl nonetheless. Okay, really not that bad. More like a meow, I guess.
