Death Comes too Soon
Even a long life is here temporarily... like grass that withereth away.

As I watched all of the cars go by
It almost made me want to cry
Solemn faces, nowhere a smile
Yet, I kept thinking, all the while

Who was this person, whom they knew
Were they a lot like me, and you
And just how DID they meet their fate
All these things I did contemplate

It's not always easy, you see
Looking toward the final hour
It remains such a mystery
Life unfolding like a flower

So, what will it be like for me
When my time here is history
Will there be many passersby
Will they ask God if He knows why

Will they pause to think of my life
Or wonder why I'm not a wife
Will they be grateful, that I'm free
From this world's pain, and misery

Or will they think to celebrate
My moving on, upon that date
Whatever happens, one thing's sure
Death will meet me... there is no cure.
