Fear in the Senses
Not Another Love Poem: topic of Horror

You hear the damning sound
Beating within a tone deaf ear
Thud…thud…it continues to grow
Volume raising and flowing
Marking the night with noise

You feel a draft of ice
Sliding down your spine
Stealing the heat from the soul
A sharp prick of pain
Kept at bay by touch

You see the darkness unfold
Flooding your sight
Trying to block all vision
From grasping the reality
Of this envisioned nightmare

You taste the ache
Dank and bittersweet
Refusing to be swallowed
It stays awake
At the top of your throat

You smell the sour decay
The stench sweeping within
Bringing up queasy feelings
Making you feel faint
The horrible scent of death

All this you experience
Standing before the pit
The final push to come
Make your plea but in the end
You fall
