Summer Rain
A lazy, summer evening in the Appalachians.

I remember the metallic scent
Of a storm on the wind
As the fog’s wraithlike tendrils
Curl over the peaks
Of mountains
And slither over hollows
Hiding the dilapidated steeple
Of a country church
As fireflies and cicadas welcome
The rain of summer’s eve
