You Opened the Door You opened the door for me To traverse my world on sinewy paths Mountains and valleys, landscapes awash Quiet brooks, rivers, and turbulent seas You opened the door for me The cave I inhabited grew impossibly small Opportunity and pace , reduced to a crawl Solitude be damned, it was time to flee You opened the door for me Fully embracing challenges of the heart Love's radiance washes away the dark Expanding by ten the wonders I see You opened the door for me Whitewashing memory's dreary black shroud Professing love proudly, at last spoken aloud Ever independent, I cherish becoming "we"
