The rain splashed down onto the streets
and the puddles grew deep and wide. Fizz! as the heat of the ground turned water to steam by my side. Anger turned slowly to bubbling resentment to simmering sadness to gentle contentment as the rain splashed down, carrying gladness. Summer had broiled and burnt to a crust (for no water flowed) the ground that was green and fresh, just weeks ago. Then, in the night time with anger abated I felt the rain; how long had we waited? My anger with you had bubbled and boiled but soon, like the ground, the water renewed me. I felt fury no longer, forgiveness had come and my step quickened as I trod through the sea of rain to meet you. Now my mind dances back to the present and I think again of that time when we rowed and argued as the ground crisped and I was ready to leave you, to throw back the ring and find a new love. I remember the time when it rained just in time for love and I smile at the clouds.
