Room to breathe
A rictameter chain about a dinner party.

Dinner…
seven courses
and a great deal of wine!
He pushes back from the table.
Delicious, sleepy, lethargy settles
over him, as he settles back,
quietly in his chair.
The wine has dulled
his wit.

His wit
failing him now,
as the room grows warmer,
filling with idle talk and smoke.
Thanking his gracious host, he takes his leave.
Out in the fresh air, he opens
the button of his pants.
Finally! Room
to breathe.
