Mickey Mouse- a lovable character that is recognized by millions around the world. On the camera and at his home in Toontown, he is always smiling? But just how did Mickey get to the big screen? And how did he meet Minnie Mouse? These questions were answered through a private interview with Mickey. Without any cameras, the Mouse gave his story...

Interviewer: Thank you for joining me today, Mickey.

Mickey: No problem, pal.

First off, I’d like to ask about your background information, you know, how you got into show business.

Well, it wasn’t all easy. It was hard to be the only oversized mouse in my neighborhood. My parents knew from the start that I was—well—special.

Were you made fun of?

Only everyday of my life.

Sorry to hear that.

Oh, it was okay. I mean, after they sent me to the Freak House things started to get better. I met the love of my life, Minnie Mouse.

Well, I’m sure you guys hit it off well.

Gosh, of course we did! Minnie was just like me. And I knew no one could take her away because we were the only freak mice that I knew of. Unfortunately, I was mistaken.

What do you mean?

Well, that’s when I met Mortimer. Mortimer Mouse didn’t look half as handsome as me.

Then what was the problem? Did Minnie fall in love with him?

No.

So what was wrong?

I didn’t like his face.

Oh. I guess that could present problems.

Yeah, Minnie got mad at me because I just tried to fix Mortimer’s face.

How did you do that?

I punched him.

Oh…and this would be an improvement to you?

Well yeah, if you were him wouldn’t you rather have your face punched in so you could have a reason to be ugly?

Um…yeah…

Anyway, Minnie got really mad at me. I wasn’t sure why.

Yeah…can’t imagine…

She said that she didn’t like me anymore and started to hang out with Mortimer.

I bet this was really hard on you.

It was. I must confess that this is when I went through my Dark Times.

Uh, “Dark Times”?

Yeah, you wouldn’t believe the kind of bad mouse I can be.

Uh…no, I can’t believe that.

Well, I was bad all right. It’s hard to look back at those dark days now. You want to know what I did?

…Sure, what did you do?

I stole a piece of cheese.

… … …and?

That’s it. I stole a piece of cheese. Ain’t it awful?

I can understand that you’re speechless. It was a pretty bad crime.

Okay then, uh, yeah, so what did you do after that?

Well afterwards I decided to straighten up my life. I stopped wearing chains around my ears and I washed off my tattoo. I then bought a box of cheese and flowers—notice that I bought the cheese this time—and I delivered it to Minnie.

How did she respond?

She was thrilled! She also said that she and Mortimer broke up a day ago.

How long were they together?

A day.

…Wait, but didn’t you say you went through a “Dark Time”?

Please, don’t remind me of that time.

But how long did that “period” of your life last?

A day.

So it lasted for just a day.

Yeah, but I’ve turned away from those ways.

All right-y then. Well, I guess I’ll see you later, Mickey.

But don't you want to know how I got into show business?

Er, maybe another time...

Oh, well, okay. It was great talking to you. And remember one lesson that I hope you got out of this talk.

And what’s that?

Always pay for your cheese.
