On Might’s first day
dawn cast mountain shadows across the waking city. We walk past stone walls guarding neatly trimmed lawns that glisten with water raining from the steel heads of sprinkling systems attempting to transform this desert into a modern Eden. We stroll down a rise marking the point where fault lines mate, we don’t consider the earthquake that will eventually tear Las Vegas apart; why worry about a natural disaster when the planet itself trembles beneath the clash of icons.
