How Do I Make You Understand?
A poem about a disobedient child.

How can I get through to you
and make you understand
that children are supposed to
obey their parents and not
their so-called friends.

I tell you right from wrong
and expect for you to obey,
but to you I have no right
getting in your space.

I love when you call me granny
and give me that beautiful smile,
but you really didn't mean it
because you were only faithful
for a little while.

Now here we go again
wearing ourselves out
shouting at each other
and wearing these ugly frowns

My sweet dear child, I love
you more than words can say,
you're more precious than
all the gold in the world
wouldn't you please obey.

We have but a short time
in this mean and cruel world,
live your life to please God
and not for some boy or girl.

God takes delight when you
obey your father and mother,
but he is'nt pleased at all when you
disobey them for another.

If you start obeying and doing what is right,
the devil and his demons will have no one to fight.
Well, I'm a little bit tried and must go to bed,
but I hope that I have said something that
will make you take a stand.

A stand for what is right by obeying all
of your parents rules for God will reward
you and guess what, you'll even
succeed at school!
