A BETTER LIFE

She knew that she had choices to make,
and that she could not stand the violence
or the intensity of his wrath any longer;
Her life had been chaos much too long.

In desperation, she had watched as her world
began to come crumbling down around her,
as she tried so valiantly to save their marriage
that was doomed from the very beginning.

The sobbing in the lonely nights was hushed,
there would be no more pain to suffer through;
Her face was serene as she drove away,
it was time for a better life, a new life, alone.
