Hello my name is Rusty Quill and I have a problem; I am addicted to web 2.0. Now I've read on the "Addicts R Us" web forum that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery – I just can't seem to figure out what the next step is.
Let me elaborate on my addiction. In the past few days I have checked five different email accounts, read 68 articles on Digg, Writing.com, Squidoo, and del.icio.us, designed a music forum (http://www.minneapolismusic.com/forum), updated a friend’s Vintage VW forum and web site (http://http:www.vintagevwcars.com), read 118 forum posts on five different forums, made 16 of my own posts, checked my Squidoo, Digg, del.icio.us, Writing.com, Adsense, Commission Junction, Yahoo Search Marketing, and Google Sitemap accounts, as well as extensive review of my web hosting company's statistics page. And that’s not all… one cannot forget numerous hours perusing other Flickr, Squidoo, Writing.com, del.icio.us, and Digg user's profiles and posts.
Holy guacamole, I forgot blogs, MySpace, movie and music reviews, and Ebay!
I'll be right back, I need to check to make sure I am still the highest bidder... ok I'm back - I'm quick like that.
I’m afraid it has gotten to the point that if I slip up and utter the word “Adsense” in my wife’s presence (yes I still have a wife after all this - so far) I am forced to give her a back rub. If I utter the word twice she gets a full blown massage. If I am so unfortunate as to slip up a third time I am banned to the couch for the night where I nurse my tendonitis-inflicted forearm (sore from backrubs, massaging and mouse clicking.)
So what is the solution for all of us web 2.0 junkies? After many hours of searching through forums dealing with the subject, and talking with other addicts I discovered at these forums, the answer has become quite obvious. I must start my own social networking website for those web 2.0 addicts who can’t get enough social networking. This website will have unlimited forums, bookmark sharing, article posting, RSS feeds, lens creation, story posting, bidding, and shared affiliate income for all users who can prove they are addicted to web 2.0 by logging in at least 300 times per day! (or shrink to the size of a walnut and build a ten unit condo in the spare hard drive bay of their computer - personally I think it would be easier to log in 300 times per day.)
Brilliant!
I’ll get right on it after I purchase stock in Visine and Red Bull. Oh, and check my email, Squidoo, Digg, Writing.com, del.icio.us, Adsense, Flickr, Commission Junction, Ebay, Yahoo, Startlogic, Blogger, Facebook, Technorati, and MySpace accounts.
