The NaNoWriMists Prize List 2006 Members of "The NaNoWriMists 2012" Best Chapter This prize goes to the best chapter entered into this section. The chapter is chosen by the entrant and will be judged solely on what is contained in that chapter as a self-contained unit. Therefore, any plot holes explained by the rest of the story will not matter: it's the quality of writing and enjoyment within that chapter that will be judged. For the best chapter, a Merit Badge will be awarded from a choice of Attention to Detail, Creativity, Imagery or Style (judge's choice of Merit Badge). Highest Word Count Anyone who reaches the goal of 50,000 words during November will recieve 1,000 gps for their achievement. There will also be a Merit Badge (Congratulations, Success or Job Well Done) awarded to the person who has the highest word count at the end of the contest. Word counts must be verified on the NaNoWriMo site to be entered into the contest. Best Opening Paragraph For the best opening paragraph of the novel, a Merit Badge (Attention to Detail, Creativity, Imagery or Style) will be awarded. This is the paragraph which catches attention, which draws the reader in and leaves the judge wanting to read on further. Most Useful Planning Sheet The person who has made best use of their planning time and has created the most useful planning sheet for their novel will recieve a 10,000 gp Awardicon in their choice of colour, either attached to their novel or to their planning sheet. The "usefulness" of each planning sheet will be judged on a variety of criteria. These may include detail included on the sheet, visible links between novel and plan, consistency of characterisation, structure and a steadily growing word count. Anything added or altered after November 1st should be placed under a seperate heading of Modifications/Alterations or similar. Whilst it's realised that characters don't always do what you intended them to, keeping the old ideas shows how it's developing and that you are still using your planning sheet. If your novel and planning sheet are not Writing.com items (and this must have been arranged beforehand), you will recieve a Merit Badge, either a Congratulations or Novels badge (judge's choice of badge). Weekly Targets At the end of each week, post your current word count in the Writing Forum. If you have reached the below goal by the date shown, you will recieve 200gps. These goals are higher than is necessary to complete 50,000 words in the 30 days. Therefore these are additional bonuses. The minimum word count needed to complete is 1,667 words per day, or 11,667 words per week. Anyone wishing to add a prize to this list or judge one of the sections is very welcome to do so!
