utopian bohemian dreams
of a gay wind-chime child at play her marooned heart blinks quietly youth is a leaf, youth is a leaf floating high, blending into sky her airy thoughts showed her cloudburst thunderstorms could not make her frown blue like a bird, blue like a bird her song was bright yellow sadness Kenya calls, her longing tender "where has the wild adventure gone?" youthful desire, youthful desire she used to think true love was pink purple kisses, and orange lipstick kaleidoscopic life was great the seventies, the seventies cornucopia of color rainbows of bright red glass vases wildflowers picked from lazy fields a cup of wine, a cup of wine escaping from the train of life stepping off for merry-go-rounds from the great gourd of calm wisdom : "drink peace and love, drink peace and love" "Toronto told me I was gold my worldly prince of sweet surprise" deadly autumn bicycle ride broke, her last hope broke, her last hope that day joy crept into the crypt of what-may-have-been youthful dreams locked in another time and place cry, wind-chime child… cry, wind-chime child wind-chime child 7 october, 2006 (For Lynn Hick's "Take My Phrase, Please" Contest) (Written in my non-rhyming variation of the Monotetra form)
