Nilbog : The Compassionate Goblin

Children! Listen to my pleadings.
Being a Goblin is not simple.
Hold your tongue; stem the teasing
And espy my smiling dimple.

By chance, Nilbog is my name.
Look! Beneath the mushroom
I huddle, my bent frame
Awaits my divine fate or doom.

Children! Open your hearts,
Bestow mercy on this grotesque beast.
Today, fair kindness starts
A new, friendlier, Halloween feast.
