Reflections of a phantom

Phantom

I've journeyed through eternity
in the dark and vast abyss.
I've traveled far and seen so much
like a phantom in the mist.

I've done what most can only dream,
been to where they can't go.
Seen a place where stars are born,
then enjoyed the great light show.

Beyond the mortal thoughts of man,
deep inside the mystic eye.
I've watched what happens to a soul
when the Angels start to cry.

I'm there when a tiny baby's born
and an old man breathes his last.
When you're feeling tired and worn
and the looks of doubt are cast.

I'm humbled by the infinite tide,
in the spectacle of time.
Watching all the lonely people,
waiting silently in line.

There was a time when I stood there,
a name upon the list.
Now time and space, I clearly see
as a phantom in the mist.
