A Noise That Won't Go Away I hear a noise that won't go away;
It stays with me all through the day. It thumps louder when my Love nears; Softer when music caresses my ears. I get angry, it thunders and pounds; Chat with my friend, I hear calmer sounds. Do something wrong, it thuds in my chest; Purrs when I wrap in my quilt, for a rest. Injustice! It hurts deep inside; Seeing our flag, it echoes with pride. I hear a noise I hope won't depart; The source of the noise is each beat of my heart.
