Blue Eyes And Dawn
about a girl who lets go the past

There is a girl, who sits alone,
In darkness, in light,
In truth and unknown.

She sits and she thinks
Of the things in her life,
Why and how,
Where is the link?

Her eyes of blue inspect the sky,
The birds that come,
And the things up high,
Her hair of gold flies in the breeze,
Strand after strand flowing,
Like the colossal seas.

A single hand caresses the jewel,
And her fingers, so numb,
It seems almost cruel.

What will the world think,
When they find out the truth?
What will they do?
Be unkind? Be aloof?

She could not bring herself to a decision,
But then, just then,
A voice says “Do it.”
And with a drawing of breath,
She lets the chain fly,
With a second and great inhale of air,
The locket was gone,
With a shock and a flair.

The memories wiped clear,
And gone were the tears.
She stood and she stared,
With her eyes of blue,
What had she done?
How had she dared?

But it was gone,
As was the dawn.
