My Feline Friend ...
You’ve brought me gifts throughout the year And left them lying on my floor. Small birds and rodents, without heads And messy bits I should adore. You’ve left fur-balls inside my shoes And cat “yaks” right beside my bed. My couch is full of long grey strands Of lovely cat fur you have shed. You’ve shredded every window screen As you have gone inside and out. You’ve peed on rugs in every room, All just for fun, I have no doubt. But, when you come to me and purr, I somehow just forget your flaws. We snuggle on the bed and sleep With gentle snores and kneading paws. 8-8-8-8, abcb.
