Look at this place! What a mess! One of these days, I’m going to straighten it up and put things back where they belong. C’mon in, y’all. Don’t trip over that stack of books on the floor. Pull up that black manager’s chair by the desk. You will note that the furniture is a patchwork of authentic thrift shop decor, just like a motley quilt. I got a real good deal on that polished walnut desk. That bookcase behind it is actually the headboard of a bed jacked up on cement blocks. It holds all my ready-reference books, like “Writer’s Market,” “Creating Poetry,” “The Elements of Style,” rhyming dictionary, thesaurus, and my planner. The dictionary is on that little table to the right of the desk. The black plastic organizer on the desk behind the phone holds my pens, markers, paper clips, and such. That stack of papers on the desk is the Writing.Com items I’ve printed out to review. This bank of three file cabinets and shelves, which split the converted spare bedroom in half, hold my current writing projects, market files, and personal records. Those two file cabinets in the corner by the door hold miscellaneous files that may someday become writing projects. As you can see, the tops of the file cabinets also serve as a working surface for holding various stacks of notebooks, files, and paperwork. Those bookshelves on the other side of the file cabinets hold more reference books. That statue of Bocephus on top of the short one will sing for you if you push the button. In this corner, we have my computer desk with the printer. The bookcase next to it is where I keep magazines with the top shelf dedicated to the combination radio and CD/tape player and the CD tower with all my favorites, from Janis Joplin and Patsy Cline to Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, and Bob Seger. Needless to say, I always have music while I work. The walls used to be two-tone earth-brown and white. I wanted to paint the bottom white part a forest green, but my daughter, who was helping with the painting, decided it should all be green and promptly covered over the brown part with green paint, too. So, there it is. Well, there you have it, folks. In the words of Jimmy Buffet, that’s my “Window on the World.” **************************
