In the Event of a Fire

In the event of a fire,
Everyone would die,
We would all burn up,
No one could slide by.

The flames would lick at our faces,
They would tickle at our toes,
We could feel the heat on our backs,
No matter where we might go.

The smell would be most foul,
As the bodies start to decay,
We might kick and scream and retch,
But this is the price we must pay.

As we all stand and burn,
Our bodies and mind racked with pain,
We wonder where our lives have gone,
Knowing that we can never get them back again.

In the event of a fire,
Everyone would die.
