September 11, 2001, the day that shocked a nation. Tower 1 of the World Trade Center was hit by a commuter’s plane and a n hour later, another plane crashed into Tower 2. The towers collapsed and thousands of people died. Many saw terror, but others, a miracle.
Watching “World Trade Center”, I saw the other side of the 9-11 tragedy. Where the terrorists buried, heroes arise. Firemen and policemen gave up their lives to save others, citizens helped each others out even at the brink of death.
Sometimes, we must face evil to see God. Ordinary men and women became heroes, had powers that you couldn’t find in any comic book hero. They’re called compassion, love and faith. Faith that somewhere, somehow rescuers would hear their faint voices calling out for help. Faith that someone would still keep looking even if the light is dim. Faith that someone would dig even if it means the possibility of being buried.
Only 20 lives were saved that were buried in Ground Zero and thousands were lost. But that 20 lives affected million others.
Every year, we will commemorate that day, not just for the lives lost, but for those saved and regained.
Ground Zero, where World Trade Center collapsed and where a nation will rise again.
