Shimmering water,
Pulsating to the rhythm, Dancing on the earth. -------- Raucous squawking crows, Voicing imagined insults, Resolving nothing. -------- The earth spins daily, Bringing itself and people Back to where they were. ---------- A solitary thought Of some questionable worth Struggles to survive. --------- Clouds over mountains, Blocking the sun like a veil, Turning green trees black. --------- Cries of distant loons Echo in the vast silence, Humans in pursuit. ---------- Ripples from a boat Rush to crest and crash on shore, Like too-anxious youth. ------------- Soothing sounds of rain, Drumming noise that disturbs A nightmare-filled sleep. --------- Ripples of our lives And the wide wake of a boat Disappearing, gone. -------- Dew settles on leaves, Bringing life to anxious skin, Kissing throbbing lips. ---------- Rain falls to the earth, Collecting in puddles, Joining my sad tears. --------- Months of quiet freedom, alone in the universe, ends when we are born.
