Alive In Death

Alive in death
in this empty tomb
I live my life
In misery and gloom.

Dark and musty,
stale with decay,
this is the life
I am living each day.

Empty and wasted,
I am but a shell.
This is the dungeon
within it, I dwell.

Rotting away,
before my own eyes
Silently screaming,
No one hears the cries.

Alive in death,
watching life pass me by,
I am no longer a who,
what, when or why.

I am nothing now.
Invisible to all.
The pit of despair
to me does call.

In death I am silent,
in my eyes a plea,
I am looking for you,
come and join me.

I followed your travels.
Know each and every turn.
Stalking with diligence,
As the hunger did burn.

I have but one mission,
before leaving this place:
To erase who I am,
vanish without trace.

To do this I must
make you disappear.
I become you,
and you'll live in fear.

I will torture your mind,
strip you of your "self".
Put on your mask,
and put me on the shelf.

I become you,
and you'll become me.
Then alive in death
we both shall be.

`Endless Night Dark Poetry Contest
Haitus. Darkness is always Endless.

Translation: Upon self reflection, the gang thug, the murder, the deviant, has realized they are not who they once envisioned, perhaps as a child, thus, they set out to remake themselves. This is a conversation or thought from one self to another.
