A musing on how what was is no longer...

In times long past
The sun was but a flame
The woods but fields
The rivers but streams.

Mountains were hills
Islets were continents
Caves were holes
And the earth but fresh.

Now, in the blink of an eye
How all has changed
Time gave a mighty heave
And brought the land with it.

The rivers no longer azure
The forests dwindle
The wolf howls at the moon,
A cry for nature’s fate.

When will it be anew?
Will it take a cleansing storm?
An apocalyptic doom?
‘Tis only we who choose.
