VERSES FOR MY CHILDREN

I've got a dog and his name is Spot,
If he runs too fast he gets quite hot

I've got a cat and his name is Jim,
If he runs too slow I can catch him.

I love the pretty flowers that grow in the park,
But they close all their petals when it gets too dark.
They open them again when the sun comes up,
Best of all I like the daisy and the buttercup.

My dolly's name is Sally
And she's dressed in pink.
She's the prettiest doll of all
In the world -- I think.

Pick some apples from the tree
And eat them for your lunch or tea.

When I grow up I'll be big and strong
And drive a big truck all day long.
Or maybe play drums in a marching band,

Or juggle three balls at a time- --- in one hand!
Then, I might be a pilot and fly in the air
In a great big plane that can go anywhere!

I like to go down to the farm
To see cows and pigs and goats

The sheep go "baa", the roosters crow
And the horses all eat oats.

Puppies are fun, cats are nice too,
A birdie will talk and say "How do you do"
My friends can all play in the yard and the park,
But my Teddy comes to bed with me, when it's dark.

"Who broke my best dish?"
Mother asked us all.
Nobody answered
And I ran up the hall.
"Somebody broke it,
I know who it may be"
Mummy stared with angry eyes.
How did she know it was me?

Little children go to sleep,
Shut your eyes and do not peep.
In the morning you can play
with your friends, all the day.

Don't be angry, don't be cross,
Don't fight with friends about who's boss.
Just be happy while you play,
You'll see -- you'll have more fun that way

Thank your Mummy and Daddy too,
For all the things they do for you.
Try to be good and do what's right,
For they love you each day, from morning till night.
