an extended Than-Bauk poem about our latest holiday - madness day
on madness day
in red clay mud
I play outside
bay at the moon

on madness day
they will pay me
to spray paint on
gray concrete walls

on madness day
swift blue jays will
not sway my heart
they make me laugh

on madness day
my birthday cake
bouquet of straw
stray cats, strange gifts

on madness day
a ballet of
blasé singers
neighing loudly

on madness day
quick, they say, don't
downplay the farce
may flowers bloom

on madness day
snow bound sleigh melts
in rays of sun
gay winter pranks

on madness day
Saturday verse
Broadway poems
fey crowds applaud

Extended Than-Bauk Form
Daily winner of the Writer's Cramp

Author's Note:
The Than-Bauk form is originally a three line, twelve word form with
four syllables per line and with a staircase rhyme moving from the fourth
syllable of the first line to the third syllable of the second line and finally
to the second syllable of the third line. I have added a fourth line with
the rhyme placed on the first syllable.
