ASHLEY JANE
Do I need pink or blue curtains?

ASHLEY JANE.

We waited so long for her to be born,
Our beautiful Grand-daughter dear,
She came into this world one bright summer morn,
Oh, the cries and the laughter and cheer.

Three brothers she had to teach her the ropes,
She grew fast in a family of boys.
Loved her football and cars, riding bikes down the slopes,
Played not with those dolls but their toys.

She had a young sister by the time she could talk
But to play with her wasn't much fun,
At dolls and tea sets, she would just baulk
Oh, this tomboy, she wanted to run!

Well, into her teens, and I sadly confess,
This pretty young lass --- a delight,
Still never would wear or be seen in a dress,
Might have torn when she got in a fight.

Then something changed, she met a young man
Who enjoyed all the things she did love,
They continued their lives, went hand in hand,
They fitted like a palm in a glove.

So, now I have come to the point so it seems,
My lovely Grand daughter and beau,
Are fulfilling all theirs and all of our dreams,
She has now got that motherly glow.

A bonny Great grandchild in just a few weeks
Will be ours, and we'll cherish the joy
Of having the pleasure of kissing the cheeks
Of a darling wee girl or a boy.

If it's a boy, he'll play football and box,
And ride round the streets on his bikes.
But, if it's a girl, she'll give out the hard knocks,
As her mother did, do what she likes!
