A long forgotten ride
A poem about two and their ride to escape forces that would pull them apart |
| A long forgotten ride They galloped side by side Fleeing through shadows and mist Trying hard to avoid the graveyard list Forgotten… A struggle for love and life A love that spanned peace and strife Born by hearts and bound by chains Yet the darkness could not quench their flames Forgotten… An ocean, a mountain, and a sea Kept the two from being free They rode where desperation led, Pursued by the knowledge of what they fled Forgotten… A roiling darkness, like a shroud, Hide what was within, gaining ground. Shining eyes and pointed claws Silva dripping from crimson maws Forgotten… A King, proud and full of spite, Sought to keep the lovers apart that night A daughter, fair, he had to lose Of her, from the dark hoard, he wished news Forgotten… Forgotten is the end Forgotten is the legend, never penned Forgotten is the question never answered and never asked Forgotten is the love that couldn’t be masked |
