You Never Knew
You never asked.

I don't feel the way,
you tend to think I do.
But you didn't ever ask.
So never really knew.

You think you know the thoughts,
that I'm thinking in my head.
And you're trying to hear the words,
that I have never said.

You're trying to see the world,
as I see it through my eyes.
Watching all I say and do,
and all that it implies.

I don't think you know it,
but my heart is in your hands.
And when you lose your grip,
the rest of me still stands.

But you'll never know you dropped it,
or that when you did, I fell.
Because you never asked me how I felt,
so I could ever tell.
