THE CHRISTMAS STAR

Each year I anticipate the coming season
when lights are lit on every Christmas tree;
It's a time of bright dreams and wonderment,
a time for remembering what it means to me.

The stores are filled with gifts for everyone
to wish for as Christmas time draws near;
Packages of every shape and size are placed
underneath the tree for those we hold dear.

I love to hear again those dear old songs
that have captured every soul and heart.
My spirits are lifted higher up once more
as the beautiful Christmas music starts.

The snowflakes glisten like diamonds
as they flutter down, covering the earth
and I pause to remember the reason,
it is the time of our dear Savior's birth.

Just as in olden times we watch the sky,
we search it from both near and far;
without fail, once more we see the light
of the Christ Child's Christmas star!
