Explaining the gift point system.
I am amazed at the incredible wealth of most of the authors on this site. I knew there must be a few bucks in writing novels, but I really had no idea of the magnitude of it. These colossal gift points flow like huge waterfalls of shiny coins and cash, and I know one thing for sure, I'm going to be writing a few books, and soon!
The other day I did some reviewing and I flipped my usual gift point allotment of 1 gift point for each good story or poem I read. The reading was pretty good so it was worth it, I mean, a buck's a buck right? I even went as far as flipping one guy 2 of these precious little trinkets, as his was the best story I had read all day. I'm sure he was totally thrilled by my generosity!
When I was done reading I clicked a few buttons and started checking out some contests to see what trouble I could get into, low and behold, right in front of my very own eyes, I see this HUGE donation list. There had to be 30 to 40 authors, all lined up right next to the tidy little donations they had made to help run the contest. I just about went in my shorts when I saw close to 500,000 in donations, most in the 30-60 thousand range! I really went bizerk when I realized this contest was not for some epic poem writing, but for BAD poetry writing, and the kicker was that the winner gets a cool 25 grand and something they call an Awardicon, and something I will try to figure out later on. Anyway 25 g's for a bad poem! What in the world do you get for a good, no.., a GREAT poem, maybe A 100,000 grand? Well I'm in! I know my poetry can be as bad as the next guys. This is going to be some easy pickens around here. Stay tuned!
An e-mail, cool, lets see who it’s from, Hmmm, Ok. I just got an email from that guy who wrote that great story I read earlier. Seems he was a little disappointed in the 2 coins I flipped him. I'm sure he really doesn’t need them anyway as he flipped me back 50 in his reply. You have to be pretty wealthy to be throwing money around like that, so I guess I won't be needing to flip him anymore coin. He also said I should have rated his piece. I guess I forgot to poke the little star at the top. I do believe 1 star is the best, and I'm a pretty generous guy so I'll make sure everyone gets their big shiny single star. Oh well, gotta run. I'll be keeping you updated on all my new findings as I continue my incredible journey through Writing.com.
