Fallen
Even angels can fall. An old poem.

Fallen

Fallen, deserted, abandoned by my kin,
Falling from above, and falling from within.
Cast off to my nightmare and ruthless fear,
As heaven sheds all but one single tear.
Have they forsaken my memory so soon?
Yet here I am, by light of silent moon.
Falling through clouds, falling, cannot stop.
A long way to fall, though but one single drop.

Falling with crumpled wings of long lost glories,
Fallen with tatters of once golden stories.
Fallen, deserted, abandoned by my kind.
Falling from above and falling from within.

Ancient words we spoke, you and I,
Yet now you are the reason I can no longer fly.
Madness whispering carefully into my ear,
Promising to shield me from my greatest fear.
Must I listen and forget who I had been?
Forget what I was taught, and what I had seen?
Forsake those who have forsaken me,
And I the one destined to be finally free?

Falling without knowing how to rise once more,
Fallen with a shattered and broken core.
Fallen, deserted, abandoned by my kind.
Falling from above and falling from within.

I rise with demons before empty eyes,
I rise with haunted spirits screeching tortured cries.
I rise to retrace my steps, but not to fall again.
I rise to meet the shadows that have driven me insane.
Reborn with new wings, reborn with a thirst for pain.
I fight for only myself, and what I have to gain.
Darkness and shadows serve me as my friend,
And together we seek revenge. This is the end.

I once fell with crumpled wings of long lost glories.
I once fell with tatters of once golden stories.
I once fell without knowing how to rise once more.
I once fell with a shattered and broken core.
But now I know what Fate had wanted me to be:
The first of a race of angels, now forever free.

Fallen, but to rise again.
