I attended an event at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club recently. Our company was a sponsor to the said event and I was the representative.
I went there thinking that it was gonna be a long and boring day, just manning our area and making sure that everything's in order. I even brought a book with me just in case I get bored with all the magazine reading.
When I got there I looked for the person who would help me set-up our area and he reffered me to another person who's also one of the organizers of the event. We then got to talking and he invited me to have coffee at the upstairs cafe while they're still setting up our area.
while having coffee, I mentioned t him how I love going to places like this mainly because of the ambience and surroundings, the peace and serenity that goes with it and he then asked me if I would like a tour of the entire golf course. Would I?!!
So we got into a golf cart and may I tell you that that was just my second time to ride one. I told him just that. My mistake! Coz he asked me if I wanted to drive. That made me laugh! You see, I don't drive, I don't know how. i don't even know how to tell the difference between a brake and the clutch or whatever that is, much less drive it. the only thing I've come close to driving is my black BMX bike back in my elementary days, when I though I was the coolest kid on the block coz I was the first one from my friends to own one.
He said, "It's easy. Have you driven a bump car before?" i said, "Yes". He said, "It's just like that". I said that I don't think so, coz in bump cars, you don't have the chances of falling and tumbling over! So he drove at first but he kept on pushing it. So finally, after much deliberation, I gathered all my courage and started to push the gas. Slowly, slowly, slowly. Screaming, screaming, screaming! Thankfully, nobody died. I was shaking the whole time but it was so exhilirating the whole time! It may not be much, I know I'm not gonna be close to a race car driver soon. But to be able to experience something for the first time is definitely worth rejoicing. remember the time you first got your first cellphone or the first time you fell in love? Nothing beats the first time...
I was still shaking when I was putting on my mayonnaise on my hotdog when we stopped for a quick snack. Damn adrenaline! It was a bummer though, that I didn't took a picture of my first driving experience. My shyness got the better of me. But I promise myself that from now on, I will record all my "firsts". In film, in paper, and in my heart.
