PLAYING THE GRANDMA GAME.
Nana sat upon her porch each day as I went past On my way to school. That memory will last. She'd give a kiss, a hug, a drink and wish me all the best For a happy day at work and play and then go off to rest. I'm sitting here now on my porch and watching down the street, I hear the cheery "Hellos" and the sound of running feet. My grandchild has stopped on her way, a drink, a hug, a kiss I'll give to her, as on she goes, a moment not to miss. Perhaps one day, when I am gone, she'll sit upon her stair And watch for when her grandchild comes from down the road somewhere The grandma greeting she'll pass on as we have done before And know that this tradition will be carried on once more. Memories like these are the things we treasure most. It's the little things that matter, the deeds of which we boast. It isn't hard to give our love and play the grandma game, For no matter how much things do change, they always stay the same.
