WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR ME?

There's a feeling I have that's hard to explain,
It's not of uncertainty and it sure isn't pain.
Don't know if I'm happy or saddened somehow,
Just a sort of a limbo I'm floating in now.

Before this all started I was right at the peak,
Drawing attention to myself, or so to speak.
Then down the long ladder I steadily dropped
Till I got to the bottom, and my heart nearly stopped.

I was clear out of sight (no one knows I'm still here)
Others falling upon me from above, I fear.
I'm afraid I'll be lost in the group on the floor
And no one will visit my place anymore.

See, I've been here a month, and now I'm not new,
And my name on the "Newbies List" no longer in view.
I'm an "Oldie"? Not sure if I like that expression
They must have a better word for this position.

I don't feel I'm ready to mix with the throng
Who've been members of Writing.Com for so long.
They are so proficient at surfing this site
I've so much to learn practically overnight.

So if you see me passing by on a wave
Stop, say hello, I'll remember you gave
A kind helping hand to me. I'll in turn
Pass knowledge along for other newbies to learn.

I look at the writers whose ranking is higher
Than mine, their achievements and skills I admire.
I'll work hard and learn, and one day you'll see
I'll help a newbie who got older like me.

I'd like to thank all on WDC
Who helped and guided a newbie like me.
And to all of the friends I have made on this site
My gratitude and love to you on this night.
