Santa Claus

Santa Claus. We know he doesn't exist but he is real in our hearts. It would be nice if a sweet, jolly old plump man did all our Christmas shopping for us but I would miss doing my own shopping. Each country has had their own ideas of Santa Claus for years. In the foreign countries, Santa wears a long red robe. In Norway and the Scandinavian countries, they have an Ice Princess that is like our Santa who deilvers gifts.

Santa Claus played an important role in Christmas gift giving. The author Clement C. Moore and illustrator Thomas Nast created the image of Santa Claus who brings gifts on Christmas Eve and he is a favorite among the young and old.

What do you think of when you hear Santa Claus? I think of a plump, jolly man in a red suit with a white bread and long white hair in a sleigh with his eight reindeer and Rudolph. Like in the first Santa Claus movie, Santa Claus{Tim Allen} goes to the North Pole and you see the elves, dolls, doll houses, train that the elves ride in and a polar bear directing traffic. There is snow, Santa's big gingerbread house and I thought Wow! this is the North Pole. If it did exist, this is how it would look. In other shows, Santa lives in a castle. I can believe that, too. After watching Rudolph years ago, I thought reindeer look like deer but in years later, reindeer which are really caribou are Santa's true reindeer.

The Wise men and Kings who came to visit Jesus bought him gifts and this is where the spirit of giving comes in. Santa brings gifts at Christmas and we give gifts to loved ones and friends.

Who doesn't love to see Santa at the end of the yearly Thanksgiving Parade? Santa may be a myth but we love him none the less. Oh! Have you ever seen the Christmas cards where Santa stops his sleigh in the snow and goes to the stable and is on bended knee with his hat off looking at baby Jesus in the stable? This is priceless. Jesus is the reason for the season and Santa knows this, too as the artist who painted the scene I just mentioned. Santa. May he k
