The Bridge of Life
A poem dealing with our mortality

The Bridge Of Life

The bridge of live holds everyone in sway,
From birth, through youth, and on to the last knell.
Not one escapes the price there is to pay.

In pressing pall we try to find the way
To span the sorry tale the years foretell.
The bridge of life holds everyone in sway.

Some stem their fears by clinging to the quay,
While others brave the barricades and swells.
Not one escapes the price there is to pay.

Each one of us must live from day to day,
Our destination pictured very well.
The bridge of life holds everyone in sway.

The Gruesome Specter haunts us night and day
And makes of life a heaven or a hell.
Not one escapes the price there is to pay.

Suspending time we heed the distant bell
Toll our numbered days in grim farewell.
The bridge of life holds everyone in sway.
Not one escapes the price there is to pay.
