"Hold Your Breath?"

Oh Mommy, I’m so mad at you!
I’ll hold my breath ‘till I turn blue!

I’ll cry and pout and whine today!
I’ll scream and stomp; I’ll run away!

Won’t brush my teeth and won’t get dressed!
I’ll stay in bed and be depressed!

I’ll have a fit you can’t ignore!
I’ll throw up on the kitchen floor!

I’ll hit the dog and kick the cat!
I’ll show you I can be a brat!

You’d better not be mean to me!
I just might die and then you’d see!

***************************

You’re mad because your room’s a mess
And cleaning it will cause distress?

Well, hold your breath, dear, that’s just fine.
At least, that way, you will not whine.

And if you run away today,
I guess I’ll give your toys away.

Or if you stay in bed and pout,
It will be peaceful, I’ve no doubt.

And if you’re tummy’s feeling sick.
I’ll take you to the doctor quick.

I’m sure a shot would calm you down
And make a smile out of your frown.

The dog and cat? They'll surely bite
If your bad mood gives them a fright.

I love you dearly, I’m not mean.
Your room‘s a mess! It must be clean!

You won’t die picking up your toys.
I’ll help you, if you stop that noise!

******************************

Oh mommy, yes, I do love you!
I guess I won’t need to turn blue.
